Every dog owner would love to have playful and cheerful dogs but too much energy could lead to a mess you don’t want to deal with. According to a poll by Pets at Home, one in ten dog owners missed work trying to fix a mess caused by their pet dogs. The poll also shows two in ten dog owners would likely scrap their weekend for having a troublesome pooch.
The most common problems are having pets that eat anything – from the family’s dinner table to batteries and even important documents. Pet owners are even more worried about leaving their pets inside the house for the fear of returning home with ruined furniture or a house full of dog poop. Some naughty dogs had it worse by putting themselves into danger. Just last year, insurer Petplan spent £4.7 million to cover pets who swallowed a foreign object and £2.3 million in cases where dogs were poisoned.
Pets at Home Insurance Head Johnny Armstrong tells everyone to take extra care of keeping our belongings to prevent our dogs doing trouble. He said: “We all know that our pets can get themselves into bumps and scrapes as a result of their naughtiness.
“If your pet ever puts themselves in danger through ingesting something they shouldn’t have, then ensure you seek medical attention from a veterinary clinic immediately. Ensure you keep anything they shouldn’t have locked away in order to prevent any unwanted mishaps taking place as a result.”
