There’s A Music Album for Cats
Good news for all the cats out there, a musician has created an album for you. David Teie, although allergic to cats, has created a music album just for feline listeners.
As a scientist and cellist in the US National Symphony Orchestra, Teie believed that music can also be aimed at cats. He raised money through crowdfunding and independently sold 10,000 copies of his record. Now, Universal Music offered a deal with Teie and the Album for Cats is now set for release on October 28.
The idea of creating this album started with his theory that cats can appreciate music through the sound they hear when they are still kittens such as the birds chirping or their mother’s purr.
Teie shared with Press Association: “Not all cats respond – one will go right over to the speaker and one will just walk out of the room.”
Teie also said that cats find music relaxing. “I’ve seen videos where cats nuzzle up to the speaker or even curl completely around it. Very excitable cats are completely calmed and formerly abused or feral cats tend to respond best.”
The music he created is now played in shelters to help cats interact with human easier and faster.
“It is communication in the cat’s language, of acceptance and understanding and the comfort that goes along with that.”
Universal Music also expressed appreciation for this project. Their spokesperson said, “we’re thrilled to be part of this world-first project and break into the massive untapped market of non-human music fans”.
